Research on AI Safety and Local Language Processing
Recognizing the risks associated with unchecked AI development, GEJHub prioritizes research into AI safety and resilience. Our labs explore safe deployment of intelligent systems in critical infrastructure, emphasizing robustness, explainability, and fail-safe designs. Additionally, we champion Natural Language Processing (NLP) tailored to Africa’s linguistic diversity.
By developing models that understand and generate local African languages—such as Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Swahili, and more—we aim to bridge the digital divide and make AI truly inclusive. This includes building language datasets, training speech recognition systems, and creating tools for automated translation, voice assistants, and educational apps in native tongues.
Our safety research aligns with international standards while remaining grounded in African realities, ensuring AI systems are not only technically sound but socially responsible. We partner with universities, tech giants, and community linguists to advance this vital work.
